Does W have a general membership meeting?

No, W does not have a general membership meeting. However, there are monthly events and mingles that provide an opportunity for general members to get together.

Each action team meets monthly to discuss programming decisions, and our Board of Trustees meets to maintain oversight of the organization as a whole.

What is W’s status as a nonprofit organization?

As an affiliate of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce, W is a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization. There are a lot of intricacies in the 501(c) code, but in large part, this means we are not a charitable nonprofit and do not have tax-exempt status. Contributions to W through sponsorships or dues may be tax deductible as business expenses, but not as charitable contributions. Please consult with your accountant or tax attorney for in-depth questions.

How does W select its events and programs?

Each action team meets monthly to discuss and coordinate upcoming events and programs. As the group being served, they are best suited to identify the types of events and programs that will appeal to our members. If you have a suggestion for an event, program, speaker, or group with which to partner, please share it with us.

Can W sponsor my event?

As a not-for-profit organization that depends on sponsors for its existence, W cannot use its funds to sponsor other community events. For more information on how to reach W members, see below.

Is W affiliated with other young professional groups in the community?

We are not officially affiliated with any other YP groups in Wichita (e.g. ICT Urban Professionals, YPLS, Young Lawyers, Red Shoe Society, or United Way Young Leaders); however, many of our members also participate in those organizations, and we may post information about them when appropriate.

When will my membership automatically renew?

Membership is an annual commitment and runs on a 12 month cycle from the date of your first dues payment. If your company is paying your membership dues and you change companies, the company retains that membership. You can notify us of a change in company by clicking below.

Can I join more than one action team?

We recommend that each volunteer join only one action team. We love it when our members are excited about the missions of several teams, but we don’t want you to join so many teams you can’t also enjoy the events. Join one team, then attend the others’ events!
