As the future of Wichita continues to develop, YPW has a vested interest in helping contribute to that future by providing a voice for Millennials and young professionals; and our advocacy discussions and efforts are the method with which we project that voice. This is open to all YPW members. This is a unique opportunity for YPs to identify issues in the community, have their voice heard and take action.

For the first portion of the meeting, Jeff Longwell will talk about the ways that he sees for YP’s to best interact with the city government to promote positive changes and advocate for initiatives that YP’s feel are important for our quality of life. Plus, we will discuss upcoming issues that the YPW should take particular notice of.

Please email Suzy Finn to notify us that you plan to attend so we can reserve space appropriately.

HOW WE DECIDE TO TAKE ACTION

We have established two processes by which YPW can take a stance on an issue. Before moving forward with either process, we first ask: “Does this issue contribute to fulfilling our mission to attract, engage, and retain diverse young talent to effect positive change for a brighter future?”

If the answer is yes, the Advocacy group will bring the issue to the YPW Board which will decide to either take a stance as the Board of Trustees or to bring the issue to the broad YPW membership for input. Which path is taken will depend on a variety of circumstances, including time available to make a decision and type of issue.

Registrants of YPW events agree to allow YPW and its official photographer(s) to photograph them in the context of the event. Footage captured by the official YPW photographer may be posted on social media, shared with media outlets, and/or used in future print and electronic promotional materials.
