“Local government is seen as distant and anonymous at best and corrupt at worst—not as a central part of what makes a city appealing and livable. Some millennials don’t even know their mayor much less the names of other local officials. Many are involved in charity, service or social activities in the community and see many needs and issues to address. They recognize that local government should be more connected to their daily lives but do not see the connection between local government and issues they care about.” – Knight Foundation Report
How can you change that?
Start by joining us to learn about how you can be part of the solution. We’re hosting a Q&A panel discussion with representatives from the Cities of Wichita, Andover, Derby and Goddard to discuss Advisory Board opportunities that are available to young professionals. Our communities have taken a strong stance toward encouraging YPs to get involved, and this event will be a great chance to hear what’s out there and why we should care.
Who will you hear from?
- Brian Silcott, City Administrator, City of Goddard
- Taylour Tedder, Development Manager, City of Derby
- Jennifer McCausland, Assistant City Administrator, City of Andover
- Zack Daniel, Management Fellow, City of Wichita
- Scott Wadle, Staff Liaison, City of Wichita
Registration: pre-registration for this event is now closed. Walk-ups are welcome.
