FreeInterested in getting more engaged in voter initiatives for the upcoming election? This month, the YPW Community Action Forum will be hearing from several local groups who are working on voter initiatives, presenting on what projects they are working on.
After the presentations, we will have an opportunity for attendees to discuss their own ideas and on ways that they can potentially contribute.
The groups presenting include:
- “Vote Like a Mother” Project
- KMUW Engage ICT
- Rock the Vote
Through the collective voice of 2,700 members, YPW aims to continue effecting positive change in the city of Wichita. You can play a part in this by attending our monthly Community Action Forum. This is open to all YPW members. This is an opportunity for YPs to identify issues in the community, have their voice heard and take action.
RSVPs closed February 24 at noon. Walk-up attendees are welcome.
HOW WE DECIDE TO TAKE ACTION
We have established two advocacy processes by which YPW can take a stance on an issue. Before moving forward with either process, we first ask: “Does this issue contribute to fulfilling our mission to attract, engage, and retain diverse young talent to effect positive change for a brighter future?” If the answer is yes, the Community Action Forum group will bring the issue to the YPW Board which will decide to either take a stance as the Board of Trustees or to bring the issue to the broad YPW membership for input. Which path is taken will depend on a variety of circumstances, including time available to make a decision and type of issue.
Registrants of YPW events agree to allow YPW and its official photographer(s) to photograph them in the context of the event. Footage captured by the official YPW photographer may be posted on social media, shared with media outlets, and/or used in future print and electronic promotional materials.
