Enhance Community Project 2016

ENHANCE 2016 is Saturday, June 18!

 Presenting Co-Sponsors  The Enhance Community Project is an annual community service event which focuses on enriching the Wichita area while providing YPW members the opportunity to give back to the community. This project is a one-day event focusing on enhancing a specified area of the Wichita community through property improvements. On the same day, we coordinate a community celebration with family-friendly activities, lunch, and more.In 2015, 143 volunteers made improvements to 9 different homes and worked with the ICT Army of Artists to install an art mural and bench in the Evergreen Park Neighborhood in Wichita’s Sixth District.2016 Enhance Project DescriptionFor 2016, our goal is to work on 6 homes plus community art and enhancement projects with at least 200 volunteers! We will be in the Planeview Neighborhood in Southeast Wichita.Volunteer InformationVolunteers can sign up for a full-day (7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), morning (7:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.), or afternoon (11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) shift. We also have a community celebration shift available from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This shift will include walking throughout the neighborhood from 9:30-11:30 a.m. to invite community members to join us at the celebration. All shifts include lunch and a volunteer t-shirt. We do ask that all volunteers be over the age of 15, and that any 15-18 year olds be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Pre-registration for the event has closed to assign volunteers to houses. We will welcome walk-up registrants the morning of the celebration at Colvin Neighborhood City Hall – 2820 S. Roosevelt Street. 

• Please park in the lot at the neighborhood center. Check-in will be inside this building, and we will have light breakfast items, as well as coffee and OJ available to volunteers. You will receive your volunteer t-shirt at this time as well.
• We will also be collecting food item donations for the Our Daily Bread Food Pantry, located less than a mile from our project. Please consider bringing a breakfast item – such as a box of cereal, granola bars, or the like – to donate.
• Lunch will be at 11:30 a.m. for all volunteers back at the check-in location (but outside, under the tents).
• Be sure to put on and bring with you sunscreen and/or bug spray; wear closed-toe shoes; and camping-style chairs or towels to sit on for lunch. We recommend you leave all valuables in your car or at home.
