Find your best fit and put your enthusiasm and passion for the community to work by joining a Wichita nonprofit in accomplishing its mission. 

After completing Board Placement 101, interested members move on to the next tier of the program, Board Placement Speed Networking. You will meet representatives from local nonprofits looking to fill positions on their boards. Each young professional will get to meet 10 nonprofits for 7 minutes each to discuss the organization, its mission, and how they can provide value on the board. The goal of the evening is to connect the nonprofits with compatible professionals that can serve the community through its board. Each nonprofit will come prepared to discuss specific openings on their boards and the skill sets that they are looking to obtain. As a young professional, come prepared to discuss the skill sets that you wish to use in a role on a nonprofit board.

  1. During the event, the nonprofits and YPs meet for a limited time to ask questions and share about themselves. Based on your answers to questions provided in the registration form, we will match you with 10 nonprofits to meet with during the event.
  2. At the conclusion of the speed networking, all attendees will have an additional 15 minutes of mingling time to speak to any other representatives desired.
  3. At the end of the event, both the nonprofit representatives and YPW members turn in interest forms selecting their preferred candidates/nonprofits.
  4. After the event, we match those who have common interest and pass the contact information of the individuals to the nonprofits to continue the process of getting the YP involved on its board.

All attending nonprofits are listed at the bottom of this event as they confirm. We strongly encourage you to review their websites and social media to come prepared with questions for each organization. And come with an open mind, because you will be meeting with all nonprofits in attendance!

This event is limited to 24 nonprofits and 24 YPs. This is a very structured event, and it is important to the overall flow of the evening that you arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. 

REGISTER  Registration will open at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, following the completion of Board Placement 101. Registration will close on Friday, September 22 to allow time to match attendees with nonprofits.

The Board Placement Program (for YPW members only) is a two-part series and we require that you attend both events to 1) get the full scope of responsibilities involved with sitting on a Board and to 2) network with participating nonprofits. The first event is Board Placement 101; the second, this Board Placement Networking event. All members interested in attending this Speed Networking event should have attended a previous 101 event in the past year.

Registrants of YPW events agree to allow YPW and its official photographer(s) to photograph them in the context of the event. Footage captured by the official YPW photographer may be posted on social media, shared with media outlets, and/or used in future print and electronic promotional materials.
