Open Wichita will be hosting one of roughly 100 other events around the globe for Open Data Day!

From opendataday.org — “Open Data Day is an annual celebration of open data all over the world. For the fifth time in history, groups from around the world will create local events on the day where they will use open data in their communities. It is an opportunity to show the benefits of open data and encourage the adoption of open data policies in government, business and civil society. All outputs are open for everyone to use and re-use.”

This event is for you if..

  • You’re completely new to the concept of open data but want to learn more about why it’s important and what kinds of efforts exist.
  • You’re an open data supporter and want to get involved in local efforts to increase openness and transparency.
  • You’re already involved and want a chance to get together with other project members for a day of progress.

The days activities will include..

  • Current projects on display, so people can learn what we’re doing.
  • An “Open Data 101” presentation for those who want to be educated.
  • A “Github 101” for those who want to start contributing.
  • Project teams (and anyone else) who will be pushing projects forward.

Lunch will be provided at noon, and snacks and drinks will be available throughout the day!
