Ponder This Spoken Word Performance

Sun, May 16 · 6:00p 8:00p

Spoken word occupies a central place in African American culture and history. As an art form, particularly in Harlem Renaissance poetry readings with Langston Hughes and others, spoken word evolved as a resonant artistic expression. Today’s spoken word artists pull from blues music, oral tradition, spiritual song, hip-hop, and slam poetry.

WAM joins forces with Ponder This, an extraordinary spoken-word collaborative in Wichita. A lineup of spoken-word poets will recite their biting critique. Don’t miss the moving performances as a MUST SEE at WAM!

NOTE: As an art form, the expression and perspective is brash and hard-hitting and will not suit all audiences.
