Wichita State is excited to bring keynote speaker for GAYpril, Laverne Cox. She will deliver the keynote address entitled, Ain’t I a Woman? My Journey to Womanhood on Wednesday, April 29 at 6:30 at the Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex. Laverne Cox is the first transgender actress to be featured on the cover of TIME magazine and to receive an Emmy nomination for her role in Orange is the New Black. She will explore how the intersections of race, class, and gender uniquely affect the lives of trans women of color. Laverne tells the story of the unique challenges along her journey to womanhood, professional achievement, self-acceptance, and love.
