On August 5, the Wichita City Council voted to place a Sales Tax Referendum on the ballot in the November general election. If passed, this 1-cent tax increase, with a sunset in 5 years, will fund four community priorities: water, economic development/jobs, transit, and road maintenance.
One of the best ways Young Professionals can effect change in Wichita is to be educated about the current, local issues and then vote when the time comes. At this pro/con forum, representatives from the Coalition for a Better Wichita (opposing the sales tax) and Yes Wichita! (supporting the sales tax) will present their views on the issue to YPs, followed by time for audience members to ask questions of both sides.
Join us at the newly renovated Wichita Marriott, where a cash bar will be available, to take the first step in educating yourself on this important issue in our community.
