Volunteer of the Month – Alicia Shankle
At W we are a volunteer driven organization, lead by four Action Teams and countless volunteers. Our volunteers are talented individuals, of diverse backgrounds, skilled with limitless abilities, and enthusiastic about our community and organizations future.
Through our volunteers we are able to bring to life countless experiences, engage untold numbers of young professionals, and affect change in our community.
W is thrilled to recognize Alicia Shankle as our June Volunteer of the Month.
Alicia serves on W’s Connect Action Team and is the Special Events Coordinator with Fidelity Bank. She was selected by her peers for her efforts in planning and executing W’s Choose to Challenge event on International Women’s Day.
Of her efforts Alicia’s peers say, ” [She] went above and beyond to organize the Choose to Challenge event to celebrate International Women’s Day on Monday, March 8.” Alicia worked with Emily Conner, another member of the Connect Action to organize a virtual panel with four women elected officials, developed thoughtful questions that resulted in a great virtual event and a great discussion.
Asked about why she joined W, Alicia says “I initially started to attend W events to meet new people and connections after recently moving to Wichita. It grew into much more than that when I decide to become a member. I wanted to immerse myself in the city’s culture and become more involved in the community. I believe that every connection you make is important, and I was very excited to make those meaningful connections. I also wanted to help guide other young professionals in their journey.”
Join us in celebrating Alicia Shankle. Keep up with W’s social media pages throughout the month of June as we share more of Alicia’s story.
