Volunteer of the Year

Sep 03, 2020 · wyoungpros

For the last 15 years W has been able to do remarkable work in our community to realize our vision and live out our mission of attracting, retaining, and engaging diverse young talent. As a volunteer driven organization we would not be where we are today without our volunteers who dedicate countless hours towards helping us become the best version of our selves.

W’s Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to the a volunteer who has shown an exemplary record of service to W and a significant contribution toward the mission of W and their respective team.  They have demonstrated active involvement within their Action Team and have made significant contributions of volunteer time, talents, and service.

Join us in celebrating this years’ finalists for W’s Volunteer of the Year Award.

What has been your favorite W experience?

My favorite W experience is not a specific place or time, but in fact an overall joyful experience. Moving to Wichita I only knew my aunt and uncle. Because of W, I was able to make lifelong friends and even meet my husband. It’s the main reason I call Wichita home! It’s been so fun to be involved in a variety of development experiences including: Leadership Academy, Group Mentoring, Mission Wichita, the Ambassadors Committee, and the Develop Committee. I love W!

If someone were to ride in your car, what would they hear?

They would hear a variety of music and it would depend on my mood or the time of day! I love to start the day with my Christian “Jesus Jams” playlist and then transition into some Oldies (The Eagles) or Indie Folk (Lord Huron) music!

What has been your favorite W experience?

My favorite W experience has been getting to know more about Wichita through other peoples perspective and what makes us so unique and charming.

What is your favorite app and why?

My favorite app is Pinterest and I spend way too much time on there. Literally, it will provide you anything you want décor ideas, inspiration, motivation, and jokes. It’s my one stop shop for my life (tosses hands up in the air).

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Salzburg, Austria, and the Alps. Several years ago, my husband and I visited Europe and I dragged him on a day trip to Salzburg, Austria, to do a “Sound of Music” bike tour. Salzburg was absolutely beautiful and the scenery was gorgeous. I would love to go back and spend more time there.

If someone were to ride your car, what would they hear?

A bunch of podcasts. Some of my favorites include “Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me!” “Reply All” and “This American Life.” (If I’m listening to music, it’s likely Vampire Weekend, CHVRCHES or Haim.)
